Cleaning by digestive power
[Sorry, if the theme goes directly 'below the girdle line', but this must be ...]
The intestines have to be emptied daily in any case - at least once or twice a day.
This is very important! We may wonder why the intestines should have to do so much with some problem in the respiratory system or so.
The thing is: the digestive system represents our biggest surface for contact of the inner body with the outer world. If you would cut flat all the small parts of the human digestive system and would spread them all over the floor, it would be nearly enough to cover a soccer playing field.
Many things enter the body by the digestive system, and many things leave it by the digestive system. So if one tries to clean the respiratory system from bacterias but forgets that the same kind of bacterias are growing by millions at the same moment in another part of the body (the intestines), ready to spread themselves everywhere, then shouldn't wonder why the healing process seems somehow endless.
So you can imagine that it does make sense to clean the intestines very nicely again and again.
If after feeling that you have caught an infection you begin immediately (not too late) with the cleaning of the intestine, you will most probably for instance not get any painful coughing from your influenza.

The
method
of cleaning is very simple: take some kind of food which you know from by your own experience that it helps you to have very good digestion.
I use to take beets, at least two or three pieces (cooked) a day. If you don't like them, try red grape juice (I don't mean red wine ...) on empty stomach.
If neither of them works properly for you, take some bittersalt (Natrium Sulfat) dissolved in water. You get it in the pharmacy (medicine store).

The Sunflower-Oil-Cleaning
(through the mucous membranes of the mouth)
First:
you should grow accustomed to the habit of
spitting out all substances that 'want to' leave the body over the mouth
- phlegm, saliva and so on - especially in the morning after rising.
This is a very important cleaning channel for the body.
Never swallow these things down again!
The white blood corpuscles kill 'intrudors' like germs and die themselves during this process. Then they altogether are brought out as phlegm over the mucous membranes of the nose, the mouth, the bronchi and so on.
But if you would rely on this 'automatic' process only it still would take a quite long time - maybe too much time for preventing an influenza from becoming dangerous.
Here comes one of the main tricks how you can get rid of virusses, bacterias and toxins
really quickly
.
I believe that this method has its origin in the old Indian science of Ayurveda, because there they are doing many things with different kinds of oils. But, to the more 'Western' world, it was rediscovered by a Russian doctor called Dr. Karach, who talked about his astonishing development to many of his colleagues at an Ucrainian congress (I guess it was in the late 80's or early 90's).
The
technique
simply consists in taking one tea spoon full of good-quality (cold-pressed) sunflower-oil into your mouth and keeping it there for about ten to fifteen minutes while moving it inside the mouth. Then spit it out and clean the mouth nicely. That's all.
It is also possible to take another kind of high-quality nourishment oil. But with sunflower-oil it functions best.
I tried it with cheap oils: that didn't function, they don't emulgate (mix with the saliva) in the mouth so well.
For prophylaxis, you should do this once a day, best with empty stomach. In the case of a disease: moreoften a day, as many times as possible or at least until you can feel some relief from the the infection.
It is not bad to repeat this process as often as you like. The only mistake you could do would be to swallow the oil. You should avoid this in any case.
What happens during this process?
I cannot explain why exactly it happens, but I know definitely THAT it happens:
germs (and toxins) come together from all over the body and rush in a speed 'as if they were crazy' through the mucous membranes of the mouth into that oil.

When the germs were spit out by you into the toilet, logically they cannot reproduce themselves anymore in your body. And their maybe remaining 'accomplices' you'll get thrown out during the next rounds again and again until nature can do the rest very easily.

But there are some
'little' hints you should know
. I myself did not know them, when I practiced this sunflower-oil-cleaning for the first times. I rather was disappointed because it did not seem to function well for me. And these things I did not find written anywhere.
So it took me some years of trial and error to find them out. Here they are:
The body must contain enough fluid.
If you have a dry mouth, the sunflower-cleaning most probably will not function, because the principle is based upon a coming-out of enough saliva in the mouth to be mixed with the oil. The amount of fluid increases in the mouth during this process.
As a sign for if it was kept inside long enough
you should observe the color and the consistence of this oil. If the color has become white like milk, and the consistence is more aqueous than before or - still better - a little bit foamy, then you kept it inside long enough and you can spit it out.
Don't either keep it too long until it would become just like water, because some parts of the substances could be re-absorbed into the body again by the mucous membranes.
If it is still some kind of yellow and if the consistence is still very oily, it was not long enough. But the same thing can also happen, if you kept it for even half an hour and would have had not enough fluid in the body!
To ask Pfarrer Kneipp, the old specialist: how should we drink to have the ideal amount of fluid in the body?
The best rain for plants' growth is the very smooth rain with very small drops - only a little bit of fluid but spread very finely.
If, on the other hand, a thunderstorm with masses of rain comes, then it may 'gargle away' also the good things and nourishments from the earth, which would have been necessary for the plants. The result is, that the earth dries out. So: more is not always better.
Kneipp says:
"Drink each time you are thirsty, but never drink much at a stretch!"
He often used to give only a spoon full of water to his patients, if they were sick.
To compare it with another thing: if you have a fire and give very little water in it, steam comes out. As you know, steam has a big power. If you take the same fire and put a large amount of water into it, you know what happens.
It is very similar to something in our body.
Yogis
speak of the 'digestion fire'. Many problems can be removed and avoided, if we keep this 'fire' always burning properly and learn how to handle 'fire and water', so to say, in a constructive way.

Try to avoid refined sugar, at least until you are healthy again!
Even if you pay attention to the upper-mentioned factors to make the sunfloweroil-cleaning work nicely, there is something by which you can spoil many of its good effects and also of many other good things. This is if you would consume refined sugar.
Well, you can say: most refined products are not optimal for health. But if you omit them all, and omit all that might contain some poisons, there wouldn't be much left to eat in this civilized world. So for myself I use to set priorities and put my focus to the one factor that I consider as most dangerous.
Why do I say so?
The first reason is that most people seem not to know how dangerous it is. This makes it especially malicious.

The second reason is as follows.
You know, if God produces some plant or fruit for us to eat, all those fine things are given into it which our body needs to digest it. b For instance, take non-refined full cane sugar or juice from the sugar beets with all minerals and other nourishments in it that have been in the plant originally. I don't see any health problems cosuming such a kind of sugar.
Humans need five kinds of taste, which should all be there in their nourishment. Sweetness is one of them. So my intention is not to persuade you to omit all kinds of sweets. I myself consume much of natural kinds of sugars.
If you look how many things are for instance in (good-quality) honey, you will find a large spectrum of enzymes, ferments, minerals, vitamins and so on. Compare it to what you find in refined sugar: nothing but a white powder called saccharose. That's all!
Sugar needs some vitamins and minerals to be digested. And if we eat white sugar and do not at the same time take any additional vitamin pill (which is most probably not the case, or do you do that?), then '
the sugar takes those vitamins out of our body
to be digested' - vitamins that the body would need, the more if we are not wholly healthy! Considering the amount, the frequency and the opportunities in which we tend to consume sugar, we should think it over.
By 'opportunities' I mean for instance: my personally worst experiences it got by consuming refined sugar as so-called 'energy thrust' on empty stomach.
Actually this is no wonder, because in this case there are no other nourishments 'in the near to help the body against the vitamin's robbery'.
Have you ever tried to find packaged food (of diffend kinds, not only sweets!) without added refined sugar in a supermarket? If not, try it once. But please don't be surprised if this might be more difficult than expected!
There were times when I was so silly (as a child) that in the case of having caught a cold I put a bottle of orange lemonade (containing much white sugar) besides my bed, thinking: "Oranges are good for health"!
That it often took so long for me to become healthy again, I thought to be a result of that I had to be some kind of weakling.
Well, I am not a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but there's one thing that I must give him right: when he calls refined sugar the 'white death'.
Please get me right: I don't want to bring up a whole industry against me. Also sugar-producers want to live, of course. But my idea is: the more people know how important it is to avoid the dangerous effects of refined nourishments, the more easy it may be for the same industry to install new machines and organize everything for producing more natural foods, because it can be financed easily by all the people who are as well as their new customers. Right?

Keep body temperature ideal, especially at the throat!
(cleaning through the sweat glands)
Sweat a little each day, but only until you
begin
to sweat, not too much. Otherwise it may cause a loss of minerals, but the body needs those minerals, for instance to make vitamins work properly.
The old specialist Pfarrer Kneipp says, as soon as one feels a cold coming, one should walk quickly for half an hour until the body is comfortably warm.
You know what the body does if it 'wants' to get rid of a disease, but if you do not enable it to keep an ideal temperature easily: it gets fever. The body needs the temperature for killing or 'burning' the germs. Fever is only an emergency solution for this.
As every house-owner knows, heating costs are one of the highest costs. In the same way it takes very much energy from the body to have fever. You all know that. Even if we become healthy again, diseases leave their traces.
We should try to avoid situations in which the body only can help itself by fever.
But that does not mean that you should try to suppress fever if it wants to come! This should be done only in emergency cases, before fever would become life-threatening.

In addition to the keeping of the ideal body-temperature you can take a warm footbath with bathing-salt in the evening. This is recommended especially for men to bring acids out of the body, because men easily neutralize acids over the feet. Women's bodies clean themselves of too much acids more during their monthly period automatically. (That's at least what I have heard - women might know it better ...)
Too much acid in the body would make it easier for bacterias to find ideal living conditions. That is the reason why this can be an important point as well.

Factors that can give much relief in a short time:
Keep the breath flowing through both the nostrils in a balanced way.
Why this is good, you will feel if you do it. I'll tell you a great 'little trick' that I got from my teacher,
Yogi Paramapadma Dhiranandaji
. He said, if you can make the breath flow through both the nostrils in a balanced way, half of the disease has gone already.
You know the uncomfortable feeling if during having a cold only one nostril stays open and the other stays closed for a long time. Normally this changes every one or two hours from one nostril more to the other, but in the case of diseases the breath often goes only through one nostril for a long time. There is a special reason for it.
It is said in the Yoga-science, that we have two kinds of 'nerve streams' in our (subtle) body: one of them has a cooling, calming effect and the other a warming, activating effect. The cooling one they call 'Ida' or 'moon stream', the warming one is called 'Pingala' or 'sun stream'.
Observing the flow of the breath through the nostrils you can see, which of the both 'streams' is more active at the moment (right nostril more open: Sun-stream, left: Moon-stream).
Normally they change from one to the other and produce some balance by this. During a disease often this becomes one-sided, what makes the illness still worse. Henceforth you can use the breath itself to get some relief from the disease. As you will see, this is quite practical - if you know how do do it.
Here comes the trick by which you can make a closed nostril open:
Take a pillow that is not too soft.
Put the pillow under the arm on the side of the OPEN nostril.
Lay yourself
on the side with the pillow
under the arm in a way that the pillow gives good pressure to the ribs at the side of the chest.
Inhale and exhale deeply and slowly and go on with it until the closed nostril goes open.

Keep
calmness
- not only bodily, also do not make too much effort to think over something intellectually. It might take much attention and energy and could disturb the healing process.

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise."
A nice saying, but - why is it so?
Well, there are some reasons why this makes sense. One is that the
hours before midnight used for sleeping have about double rehabilitating effect
than hours during any other time.
Try it out. Please don't believe blindly anything I say, but either don't doubt it before you have proved if it is so or not. I tried out all those things, otherwise I would not recommend them to you.
If you sleep from nine p.m. to twelve p.m., you have three hours sleep considering the watch - but you have six hours rehabilitation from the point of view of your bodily system.
So if you go to sleep at nine p.m. and get up at three a.m., you will most probably feel the good effect of nine hours sleep.
As I said - please try it out. It has nothing to do with any kind of torture, you'll see.
In fact, the question is more how deep we sleep than how long. In spite of that I use terms of time here to get a basic for comparism.
BUT: if you stay sleeping too long, the regenerating effect of sleep will reverse and you'll drug and poison the body. If an adult human stays snoaring for ten hours or more, he please shouldn't wonder why he hardly can move his limbs afterwards. THEN it might really feel more like a torture to rise ...
Another reason is there, why it is good to get up early. There is a special daytime, it is called 'Brahma Muhurta - the hour to harvest divinity'. It is from about two a.m. to six a.m.
It is a very precious time, returning day after day - how many times did you try it out and use this time for exercises or meditation?
Yogis
do exactly that. This is one of their precious secrets. Well, actually, it is no secret at all. But who applies it? I hope you do. At least once in your life. Try it out. You will not regret it - at least if you had gone to bed early enough ...
Then for the rest of your life you can sleep on again, if you like ...
Besides: being awake in this 'Brahma Muhurta' makes it not only very easy to meditate, cause the mind seems like some white sheet with nothing written on it yet. It also helps to cure diseases very quickly. I saw that my blood pressure automatically is very harmonious the whole day, if I get up then.
That is the reason why I write this point under 'relief'.

Prophylactic methods
As mentioned earlier, all of the 'Survival-Kit'-methods and the 'Quick-Relief'-methods are also practicable as regular prophylaxis. The more regularly you do that, the less you will need them as emergency solutions and the less energy it takes all in all.

Most of the following points makes sense more as prophylaxis than against acute sickness - maybe except the vitamin C.
Catch the sound part of the sunlight.
If possible, take a sunbath for about ten minutes each day (not at noon, but at the more 'modest' times of the day, at least in summertime).
The sunlight can fill the body with some kind of electrical energy that stays inside the body for some months and has a very supporting effect on the immune system.
Find out some informations about the exact yoga-technique called '
Suryanamaskar
- greeting to the sun'.
If you do this ecercise during your sunbath and
feel the sunlight consciously on the skin
, you can have a hundred times more health-effect of your sunbaths than if you would only stay there and forget that you are in the sun.

As you know,
vitamin C
is fine against many kinds of diseases. But there are some points which might be of some interest.
I take vitamin C together with, for instance, tomato juice. In it there are some things (Bioflavonoids) that help the body to absorb vitamin C.
There are countless nice and interesting stories and sayings in India, also about nourishments like for instance citrus fruits. I find it a pity that we in the West don't get too much chance to hear them. Some informative points wouldn't be bad to know, especially because we use to consume this kind of fruits not seldomly, too.
First, please think over this:
Tropical fruits tend to have a cooling effect on the body
. Why could dear God have made it like this ...?
Here are some 'citrus-informations' for you:
Citrus fruits - 1 (a short story from India)
There was a young doctor who was just going to begin his profession after his education. He was going by ship and approching the island where he should begin his work. But from the far he saw already that there were many lemon trees on that island. So he was worried and said to some accompany:
"If they have so many lemon trees on that island, I won't get too much work there, because lemons are a good remedy for so many things."
Then his friend replied: "Yes. But you know: on this island, people eat the cores, too."
Hearing this, the young doctor was very contented. He said: "Oh, fine - then I will get enough work!"

The 'moral' of the story is: the cores of citrus fruits are very poisonous. One can get some liver damage from eating them, for instance.
So if you use citrus fruits, make sure that you omit the cores completely, even if they are very small.
As many poisonous things, they maybe used as a medicament in small doses for special aims.
Citrus fruits - 2 (a saying from India)
Juice of citrus fruits:
taken in the morning, it works like gold,
at noon, it works like silver,
in the evening, it works like lead.

Consuming citrus fruits increases the production of phlegm.
So taking them as a prophylaxe is very fine, BEFORE you catch a cold. But during such a disease you should better not take them anymore, under this respect.
Citrus fruits - 4
To drink a glass of mineral water with some fresh-pressed lemon juice in the morning helps to activate the digestion power and to neutralize acids, for instance if having eaten much meat the day before.
This tastes sour, but it provocates the body to make a basic reaction. So even if it sounds quite paradox: by this you can do something against over-acidity in the body.
But it functions only if you take water and lemon juice only - don't add anything else, such as sugar! ...
In this case, the effect would reverse and you would get more acid in the body instead of more basic.

Additional method
"Dragon's milk"
: Cook milk with some chilly-powder, ginger-powder and a little cinnamon. Afterwards, add some full cane sugar or another natural sweetening. If it is very hot from the chilly, you can put a little piece of butter in it.
Drink warm.
Drinking 'Dragon's Milk' can give a good training for the mucous membranes.
